Thanksgiving Greetings From Charlottesville Horse Farms

Thanksgiving Greetings From Charlottesville Horse Farms

As I take some time to reflect on this sunny Thanksgiving morning, I have been listing in my mind all of the many things that I have to be grateful for.  At the top of the list are the people that I am lucky to have in my life.  Joining my family, friends and clients are my Active Rain Family, the Active Rain members that I have gotten to know during the years and all of the readers of my blog that are behind the scenes.  I would like to take the time to wish each of you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Abstract Architecture - Wednesday Photos

Abstract Architure - Wednesday Photos

As an art student, back in the dark ages, when I was in college, I was a fan of abstract art.  I loved the way the patterns, shapes and colors combined on the canvas.  Some of the incredible spaces in Las Vegas combine shapes and angles in dynamic configurations where they can almost be seen as abstract art or perhaps abstract architecture.

For The Most Serious Chocohaulic - Saturday Photos

For The Most Serious Chocohaulic - Saturday Photos

One of the pleasures in my life is chocolate.  If its calories is has to be chocolate.  Desert without chocolate just isn't as tempting.  The pictures look like abstract sculptures but as you can see they are a grouping of chocolate fountains flowing with all different kinds of chocolate.  The fountains made a very dramatic decoraation in a chocolate shop in Las Vegas.

Patient Pelicans Not Angry Birds

Patient Pelicans Not Angry Birds

These pelicans are waiting patiently by the sign saying advertising their food for sale.  Since they are obviously used to getting treats, they are very tame and let you get extremely close.  From the number of birds that are hanging around, I would think that they probablly get feed regularly.  These are Patient Pelicans not Angry Birds.

These very happy pelicans were photographed on the pier at St. Petersburg, Florida.  Its a good thing that they aren't angry birds, because they are certainly large close up.

Remember The Dogs Of War

Remember The Dogs Of War

On the Memorial Day we need to take time to remember our fallen soldiers, but lets not forget to honor our four legged soldiers.  There are many War Dogs in the middle east supporting our troops.  There was even one on the mission to get Osama Bin Laden.  These amazing canines even jump out of helicopters.soldiers and American Flag

Since World War II over 300 military dogs have been killed in action according to an NBC news story.  It is estimated that each War Dog saves 150 lives.  Not only are do they perform key tasks such as bomb and mine detection and attack functions, they also help the morale of soldiers far from home.

See an amazing photo essay on the Dogs Of War.

What's Your Recipe For A Perfect Holiday Weekend?

What's Your Recipe For A Perfect Holiday Weekend?

This holiday has all of the ingredients necessary for a great weekend.  Saturday it started off with showing Charlottesville and Glenmore homes to out of state clients.  One of my favorite things to do is to share my beautiful area with new folks.  The best part of my job is meeting new people and touring the Central Virginia countryside and Charlottesville homes with them.

The rest of the holiday will be spent with friends and family.  And of course some of that time will have to involve horses and Charlottesville horse farms.

Monday will include some time for golf at one of our excellent Charlottesville golf communities.

Sometimes Green Is Enough

Sometimes Green Is Enough

I have always enjoyed taking photographs of flowers, reveling in the riot of color, but sometimes green is enough.  Folliage and leaves come in many shapes, sizes and patterns.  Often when we don't have flowers and color to draw the eye we can concentrate on the intricate patterns found in the green world around us.

Life Needs A Little Rock And Roll

In the middle of all the real estate, economics and serious day to day living, its good to remember that life needs a little rock and roll.

After all of the market reports, its time to relax, kick back and have a little fun.  Whats more fun than to combine two of my favorite things, music and photography.  While I have no aptitude to play any musical instrument myself, I thoroughly enjoy listening to others and I enjoy many musical genres.  This photograph was taken at a show of an outrageous funk band called Here Come The Mummies.  They play a high energy music that you would have to be dead to sit sill to.  I hope this protograph captures in some way the high energy of the performance.

Speechless Sundays - Symetry

Symetry is a quality that we find repeatedly in nature.  The camelia is a delicate flower that is beautiful in its symetry.  Humans seem to be drawn toward the symetrical.  This is probably why we find symetry appealing in architecture.  The asymetrical often comes across as edgy, daring and innovative.

Have Yourself A Merry Christmas

Have Yourself A Merry Christmas!

My friends and colleages at Active Rain are a big part of my daily life.  You have shared the ups and downs of the year in real estate and more.  You have been a constant source of support, information, inspiration and even humor.  So it is only fitting that I take some time on this special day to wish each of you a Very Merry Christmas.
