After months of being told by the media not to buy a home right now, it appears that
the "experts" are changing their story. Yesterday on the Today Show their real estate guru Barbara Corcoran made the statement that if you are considering a home purchase and you don't buy now, you are crazy.
Never mind that this is what the REALTORS have been saying for the past six months. As a consumer what are you to think? All of a sudden the pundits appear to be making a 180 degree about face. This has got to be very confusing for the average homebuyer who has been listening to the reports of gloom and doom on the media for the past year.
Lets look at the facts:
- Interest rates are amazingly low.
- There is a lot of inventory to choose from.
- Many homeowners are ready to negotiate on price, and these prices are already lower than they have been in years.
- In many areas there are bank owned properties on the market with discounted asking prices.
- If you have good credit and a downpayment, you should not have aniy problem getting a loan.
This all adds up to the perfect time to buy a Charlottesville home! Its nice to see that the media is finally able to look at the facts. Maybe they are the ones who have been crazy and homebuyers are just confused.
