Charlottesville Virginia horse farms are some of the most beautiful horse properties in the United States. Albemarle County which surrounds Charlottesville Virginia is an area of gently rolling fields set against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This countryside is idealy suited for a Virginia horse farm.
If you own a Charlottesville horse farm it is important to know how to correctly manage your land.
Some of the issues that it is necessary for a landowner to understand are the time of year that it is best to fertilize, when to put down lime, should you drill seed and what are the best pasture grasses to seed with. Another important issue is pasture rotation and how many horses are appropriate to have on your land.
The Virginia Cooperative Extension is a resource that the owner of a Charlottesville Virginia horse farm can utilize to learn about many of these issues. In addition there will be a free educational seminar in March that an Albemarle farm owner can attend to learn more about pasture management.
Horse Pastures - From the Ground Up is an educational seminar for Charlottesville Virginia horse farm owners on March 3, 2009 from 8am-3pm, hosted by the Virginia Forage and Grassland Council and the Virginia Cooperative Extension. The program will be held at the Elk's Lodge in Charlottesville Virginia and will cover a selection of forage and pasture issues. For details and registration information you can go to the Charlottesville Horse website.

Pam - wish I read your blog a couple of weeks ago -- had buyers from the mid west looking for horse farms . They were looking in the $300,000 or less and the farms I had to show them just were not to their standards. If you have anything in that price category I will refer them to you.
Jo-Ann - That is a hard price range to find a farm in. There are a few properties in this area for that with room for a couple of horses, but nothing that could accomodate a larger number.
